Background :

Bahrain’s Labour Fund (Tamkeen) and healthcare company M42 have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen healthcare skills, create new career opportunities for Bahrainis and support innovation across the Kingdom’s healthcare sector.

The partnership will provide training opportunities for doctors at Amana Healthcare Bahrain and establish Amana Academy, a simulation-based training centre at the hospital. The academy is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2026 and will include classrooms, an auditorium and a simulation wing for practical medical training.

During its first phase, the academy will focus on training Amana Healthcare Bahrain employees before expanding its programmes to specialised and allied healthcare professionals across Bahrain.

The collaboration will also introduce digital healthcare initiatives, including an AI-powered clinical assistant and a dedicated patient application for the public healthcare sector.

Tamkeen said the partnership supports its 2026 strategy of developing national talent, improving employment opportunities and helping private sector growth through skills development and innovation. M42 said the initiative reflects the importance of public-private partnerships in building healthcare capacity and supporting long-term sector growth.

The agreement also includes plans to increase the number of Bahraini employees at Amana Healthcare Bahrain and introduce programmes that support the training, qualification and career development of doctors, particularly general practitioners.

The collaboration builds on the existing partnership between Tamkeen and M42 through Amana Healthcare Bahrain, a long-term care and post-acute rehabilitation hospital developed with Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company. The facility has already created more than 300 job opportunities for Bahrainis while expanding specialised healthcare services in the Kingdom.
