Background:
The Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre works with global healthcare company Novo Nordisk to improve its weight management programme. The partnership aims to raise awareness and build a stronger healthcare system that focuses more on prevention across the emirate.
The partnership puts family doctors and healthcare professionals in a leading role in their work. The professionals who serve as the first contact point for patients receive support to identify weight-related risks and guide patients through authorized medical procedures while conducting routine follow-up assessments.
The personalised weight management program implements a people-first approach. The program develops individual care plans for each participant through complete health indicator assessment, lifestyle habit evaluation and risk factor analysis. The programme runs across government and private clinics and hospital groups in Abu Dhabi, ensuring smooth movement across different levels of care.
H.E. Dr. Rashed Al Suwaidi, the Director General of ADPHC, explains that the program develops community health through its four elements, which include prevention and early detection and personalized care, together with continuous monitoring. He adds that the collaboration creates clear and trusted pathways for individuals to take practical steps toward better health.
Dr. Cecilia Radu, General Manager of Novo Nordisk UAE, says the company brings its expertise in weight-related conditions to support the programme through awareness initiatives and capacity-building efforts for healthcare professionals.
The two organizations intend to conduct awareness programs that will educate various community groups about their mission. The campaigns teach people about the health effects of obesity and why acting early matters.
Both sides share knowledge and best practices to keep the programme updated with the latest science, which helps strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position as a leader in preventive healthcare.
