Huntsville Hospital Health System has opened a new business operations center in Arab, Alabama, aimed at streamlining healthcare support across North Alabama.
The 32,000-square-foot facility will handle a range of nonclinical functions, including billing, pre-registration, scheduling, customer service, and accounting, that currently support hospitals and patients throughout the region.
About 60 employees are already working at the site, and officials expect that number to grow steadily until the center reaches a total of 250 local jobs.
The facility is designed to ease the workload currently carried by the health system’s existing operations hub in Madison, allowing patients across North Alabama to move through administrative processes more quickly and efficiently.
Chris Rush, president of Marshall Medical Centers, said the functions being carried out at the new center will benefit hospitals well beyond Madison County. He said the center’s work will support rural hospitals in areas such as the Shoals, Jackson County, and DeKalb County, extending its reach across a large portion of hospital operations throughout the region.
Rush described the new center as a significant investment in the local economy, one that will help keep jobs and business operations within the communities the health system serves.
The center adds to Huntsville Hospital Health System’s existing operations hub in Madison, giving the health system a second base for handling administrative work across North Alabama.
