Background
MedLab Training Institute has opened a new surgical training facility at Dubai Science Park. The UAE-based medical education provider specialises in cadaveric and simulation-based surgical training, and the new centre aims to meet growing demand for hands-on clinical education across the region.
The facility can support between 1,000 and 1,500 healthcare professionals every year. This is helpful for consultants, specialists, and those starting their careers. The training is conducted by international faculty, regional experts, and industry professionals, which ensures that participants gain experience of various types of surgeries.
Faculties are usually surgeon consultants or specialists, who have excellent credentials academically and clinically. Many are affiliated with leading teaching hospitals and universities across Europe, North America, and the Middle East.
The centre brings together cadaveric training laboratories, advanced audiovisual systems, and dedicated teaching spaces. Through cadaveric training, clinicians can practice surgical procedures on actual human anatomy within a controlled environment. This practice helps them improve their surgical accuracy and develop their self-assurance. Most programmes run over one to three days, with hands-on sessions lasting up to eight hours daily. Training covers orthopaedics and spine, sports surgery, and maxillofacial and reconstructive procedures.
Senior Vice President of Dubai Science Park Marwan Abdulaziz Janahi said the facility strengthens the UAE’s healthcare ecosystem by bringing specialised surgical training into a structured, hands-on environment, directly supporting better patient care outcomes across the region.
CEO of MedLab Training Institute, Dr Bilal El-Yafawi, said the facility was built to deliver practical, experience-driven education that mirrors real clinical environments and supports the continuous growth of healthcare professionals.
MedLab plans to expand its programmes and grow participant numbers over the next two to three years.
