UAE-based NMC Healthcare is setting its sights on growth and transformation as it enters a new era, following the celebration of its 50th anniversary, the company’s Chief Executive, David Hadley, announced on Thursday.

“Last year, we celebrated our 50th anniversary, which is a remarkable milestone. There aren’t many companies in the UAE that have reached 50 years, considering the country itself is 54 years old. Now we are entering a new era and evaluating the future structure of the company,” Hadley said during a media briefing in Dubai.

The healthcare group, which was listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2012 before being delisted due to financial irregularities, has undergone significant restructuring over the past few years. Hadley said NMC is thinking about rebranding, but it is challenging because the company has a long history, especially in Abu Dhabi.

NMC is also working on several projects across the UAE. In Dubai, it is expanding its hospital at Dubai Investment Park and strengthening its presence in Dubai South, where it runs the only hospital in the area. The Sharjah facility, nearly 50 years old, is also slated for redevelopment, though the project remains in its early stages due to its complexity.

In addition to upgrading existing hospitals, NMC is expanding its clinic network. “We have already opened a number of clinics and plan to add around 10 more in the coming years to meet the needs of growing communities,” Hadley explained.

The CEO also emphasized the importance of strategic acquisitions, particularly in Dubai, where most of NMC’s current facilities are either low-premium or located on the outskirts. “Standalone hospitals no longer meet the demands of the healthcare industry. Being part of a larger network is essential, and we’ve identified several acquisition opportunities that we hope to pursue this year,” Hadley added.

As NMC Healthcare looks ahead, the company is positioning itself to meet evolving healthcare demands, combining modernization, expansion, and strategic acquisitions while honoring a legacy that spans half a century.
