Background

PureHealth has introduced CyberKnife technology at Tawam Hospital, marking the first use of this advanced system in Abu Dhabi, highlighting the emirate’s growing role as a global healthcare leader. The CyberKnife S7, now working at the SEHA-managed hospital, is the UAE’s most advanced model and a big step forward in non-invasive cancer treatment.

CyberKnife uses high-dose, targeted radiation delivered through a robotic system to treat tumours with extreme accuracy, eliminating the need for surgical incisions. The technology is particularly effective for tumours located in sensitive or hard-to-reach areas. It gives patients a safer and more precise option than traditional surgery.

Her Excellency Dr. Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, said the adoption of CyberKnife aligns with the emirate’s strategy to offer world-class healthcare. She noted that robotic innovation is reshaping medical services and improving outcomes for patients across the UAE.

Rashed Al Qubaisi, Group COO of PureHealth, said the launch reflects PureHealth’s commitment to building a future-ready healthcare system focused on precision and innovation. By using advanced technologies like CyberKnife, the UAE is building its role as a global leader in next-generation clinical care.

Since it started using the CyberKnife system, Tawam Hospital has treated 23 patients. Doctors used the system to treat prostate cancer, brain tumors, bone cancer, and head and neck tumors. They targeted the tumors precisely while protecting healthy tissue, which shortened recovery times and improved results.

SEHA Group CEO Saeed Jaber Al Kuwaiti said the milestone highlights SEHA’s mission to offer evidence-based, personalised care while reducing treatment burdens on patients.

CyberKnife technology can treat both malignant and benign tumours, including cancers of the brain, spine, lung, liver, pancreas, and prostate, as well as non-cancerous conditions such as trigeminal neuralgia and arteriovenous malformations.
