Key Background:
PureHealth has launched virtual mental health services in the UAE through Pura, in partnership with SAKINA. The service allows residents to consult licensed psychologists and psychiatrists from home, highlighting mental health as an important part of overall well-being.
Users can book private sessions through the Pura app for quick, safe, and easy support. The online sessions are available to all residents, including those with Daman insurance.
The World Health Organization says one in eight people worldwide has a mental health disorder. In the GCC, it is not diagnosed in up to 80% of cases, and 75% of affected individuals receive no help, usually due to an access or privacy problem. The launch of Pura shows PureHealth’s commitment to a more inclusive healthcare system, helping people take steps toward better mental health.
Shaista Asif, Group Chief Executive Officer of PureHealth, said, “With Pura, we are making mental health care easier to access, more responsive, and focused on people’s real needs.” By leveraging digital solutions and innovative technology, we are removing barriers and enabling personalized care for individuals and communities across the UAE.”
Alongside therapy sessions, the Pura app offers a variety of guided meditations, self-help tools, educational resources, emotional resilience programs, and preventive wellness content tailored to users’ needs.
Dr. Zain Al Yafei, Chief Executive Officer of SAKINA, added, “Mental health is a critical yet often under-addressed aspect of wellbeing. “By offering licensed professionals through a safe and easy-to-use platform, we are helping people get help early and take charge of their mental health.”
This launch supports the UAE’s health goals and PureHealth’s plan to use technology to provide better, more inclusive care for everyone.
