Saudi Minister of Health Fahad AlJalajel met Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Tashkent during an official visit to the Central Asian country, with discussions centred on strengthening health and investment cooperation between the two nations.
AlJalajel conveyed greetings from King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, along with wishes for continued progress and prosperity for Uzbekistan.
The meeting reviewed the longstanding ties between Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan and highlighted the rapid growth of bilateral cooperation, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
Priority areas discussed included digital transformation, healthcare system development and modernization, pharmaceutical regulation, training for healthcare professionals, and plans to establish a multidisciplinary hospital in Uzbekistan.
The two sides also reviewed a memorandum of understanding signed earlier in the health sector during a previous visit by Mirziyoyev to Saudi Arabia, along with joint initiatives launched under it.
Discussions also covered agreements signed during the current visit and their role in advancing health and investment cooperation between the two countries.
AlJalajel also met Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov to discuss sustainable healthcare financing, the Health in All Policies approach, and strengthening prevention and population health.
He further met Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev, alongside Health Minister Eldor Adilov, to explore cooperation in healthcare transformation, medical and pharmaceutical industries, workforce development and health sector investment.
The Saudi minister also attended a healthcare roundtable alongside Aliyeva Tamila Anvarovna, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration for Healthcare Reform in Uzbekistan, and other officials, looking into further opportunities for investment and expertise exchange.
The visit reflects the shared commitment of both countries to widen health and investment cooperation, supporting Saudi Vision 2030 and lasting sustainable partnerships.
