Saudi Health Sector Wins Multiple Awards at Geneva Innovation Exhibition

Background

At the 51st Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions, Saudi Arabia’s medical facilities won 19 medals and a special honor. The Kingdom has achieved progress through its research and technology and innovation efforts, which it has now established as its primary focus for health sector development.

The Saudi pavilion displayed 20 new healthcare innovations, which were created by organizations throughout the Kingdom’s healthcare system, according to Arab News. An international judging panel, including researchers, inventors and technology developers from various countries, assessed these innovations at the global exhibition, which unites

The National Institute for Health Research played a leading role in the achievement, receiving a special award along with five medals. The organization received two gold medals with distinction, together with one gold medal and two silver medals for their work on projects that developed healthcare technology and enhanced medical services.

Other Saudi organizations also received awards at the exhibition. The Saudi Red Crescent Authority won a silver medal for an innovation designed to improve emergency medical and ambulance services. The Council of Health Insurance received a bronze medal for its work on health insurance services.

Regional health clusters throughout the Kingdom received awards for their innovative achievements. The health clusters of Taif and Hail achieved gold medal victories, whereas the clusters of Jeddah, Qassim, Northern Borders, Al-Baha, Riyadh, Jazan and Najran received silver and bronze medals.

In addition to healthcare innovations, the King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy also achieved success at the exhibition, winning three gold medals, one silver medal and a special award for its projects in energy innovation. The results reflect Saudi Arabia’s growing investment in research and technological development.
