Background-
Cambridge Health Group, the largest post-acute care provider in the Gulf, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Middlesex University Dubai to boost healthcare education, research and innovation across the UAE, Saudi Arabia and the wider region.
Officials from both organisations signed the agreement at a ceremony held on the university’s Dubai campus. Dr. Ali Saeed bin Harmal Aldhaheri, Chairman of Cambridge Health Group, attended the event along with other senior leaders.
The partnership rests on five main areas of focus. These include joint research into long-term and post-acute care, work on health economics and rehabilitation, and projects exploring artificial intelligence, predictive analytics and remote patient monitoring in healthcare settings.
Both organisations will also build career pathways for healthcare students through internships, industry placements and specialised training programmes. The agreement sets up plans for Centres of Excellence covering areas such as rehabilitation, digital health, home-based predictive care and dementia support.
Community health initiatives, wellbeing campaigns and academic exchange programmes fall under the partnership as well, alongside advisory work meant to strengthen healthcare systems more broadly.
Professor Cedwyn Fernandes, Provost and Director of Middlesex University Dubai, said the agreement reflects the university’s aim to solve real healthcare challenges by pairing academic research with industry knowledge.
Wael K. Abdallah, Group CEO of Cambridge Health Group, described the deal as a step toward linking clinical practice more closely with academic research. Middlesex University Dubai, established in 2005, now teaches over 7,100 students from more than 120 countries across two campus sites.
Cambridge Health Group runs six healthcare facilities across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, operating more than 700 beds and employing over 1,200 healthcare staff.
