Background-
The EFG Foundation for Social Development, Bank NXT Foundation and Valu have supported Ahl Masr Burn Hospital in Egypt through donations for medical equipment and infrastructure upgrades. The initiative aims to enhance patient care at the region’s only specialised non-profit hospital dedicated to burn treatment.
The three organisations will complete the fit-out of a dedicated inpatient room at the hospital. The upgraded space will give patients a safer and better-equipped setting during recovery and allow the facility to handle a larger number of cases at any given time.
The donation also covers a NanoDrop spectrophotometer, a diagnostic tool that measures DNA and RNA concentration and checks protein purity. The equipment will add to the hospital’s laboratory and molecular diagnostics work and support ongoing clinical research.
Ahl Masr Burn Hospital treats burn patients regardless of their ability to pay, offering medical care, rehabilitation and psychological support under one roof. No other hospital of its kind exists in the region.
Hanaa Helmy, Group Chief Sustainability Officer of EFG Holding and Chief Executive Officer of EFG Foundation, said the initiative reflects the group’s drive to raise healthcare standards and help non-profit organisations do more for the people they serve.
Karim Wahba, Head of Marketing and Corporate Branding at Bank NXT, said the partnership shows what organisations can achieve when they act together on pressing healthcare needs. Salma Abdelhamid, Chief Marketing Officer of Valu, said the hospital’s commitment to patients regardless of financial means is what drew the company to support its work.
Dr. Heba El Sewedy, Founder and Chairwoman of Ahl Masr Foundation and Burn Hospital, said the investment in infrastructure and diagnostics will help the hospital serve more burn survivors with greater speed and expertise over the long term.
