In today’s rapidly evolving business environment, organisations across the Middle East are reimagining how they attract, retain, and support their people. At the heart of this transformation is the growing demand for integrated, technology-driven solutions that simplify complex workplace processes, from health insurance and payroll to employee wellbeing and benefits.

Leading this shift is Bayzat, a Work Life Platform founded in 2013 and headquartered in the UAE. Built to give companies of every size access to a world-class employee experience, Bayzat combines health insurance management, HR, payroll (WPS-compliant), and employee benefits into one smart, hyperlocalised, mobile-first solution.

Beyond administration, Bayzat’s Premium Perks programme gives employees access to exclusive offers across 200+ brands in the UAE, while built-in wellness tools support physical, mental, and financial well-being. Real-time data and analytics across insurance utilisation, attendance, and payroll provide employers with full visibility, while a dedicated support team ensures seamless execution. Today, Bayzat is trusted by thousands of businesses across the UAE and KSA.

What truly sets Bayzat apart is its mission to democratise access to a premium employee experience. Historically, only large enterprises had the resources to offer sophisticated benefits, wellness programmes, and seamless employee journeys. Bayzat brings that same level of capability to companies of all sizes, enabling even the smallest teams to build a high-quality, competitive workplace. In doing so, it helps organisations attract and retain top talent while raising the overall standard of how businesses across the region support their people.

At the helm of this journey is Talal Bayaa, Co-founder & CEO of Bayzat, whose vision has shaped Bayzat’s evolution from a health insurance comparison platform into a complete Work Life Platform. In this exclusive interview, he shares insights into Bayzat’s founding story, key milestones, challenges along the way, and the bold ambitions shaping the future of work in the Arab world.

Can you share the journey of Bayzat and the key milestones that have defined its growth in the healthcare insurance sector?

Our journey began in 2013 with a simple observation: the process of buying and using health insurance in the region was fundamentally broken. It was manual, opaque, and frankly, frustrating for both employers and employees.

A defining milestone was our evolution from a simple comparison platform into a full-stack work-life platform. Early on, we began rolling out insurtech capabilities that fundamentally changed how companies and employees buy, access, and use their group health insurance, bringing transparency, real-time access, and a much more seamless experience to what was previously a fragmented process.

This transformation was further accelerated by integrating insurance into a fully localised HR and payroll platform. By connecting these systems, we were able to solve deeper, day-to-day pain points for businesses, ultimately turning insurance from a static, once-a-year product into a continuous, embedded part of the employee experience.

Another key moment was our successful Series B and Series C funding rounds, which enabled us to significantly accelerate investment across both our insurance and platform capabilities, while reinforcing our belief that the future of work in the region will be built on integrated, technology-driven platforms that bring together HR, payroll, and benefits, with healthcare as a critical component.

What was the founding vision behind Bayzat, and how has it evolved over the years?

The founding vision was simple: to provide a world-class employee experience to every company, regardless of its size.

In the early days, we focused on bringing transparency and ease to health insurance, which was one of the most broken and opaque areas for employers and employees in the region. But as we worked more closely with companies, it became clear that insurance was just one piece of a much bigger challenge.

Over time, our vision evolved into something far more holistic. Today, Bayzat is built around empowering companies to create remarkable workplaces by supercharging their people, processes, and payments. We’ve built a fully integrated, all-in-one platform that brings together HR, payroll, finance, and benefits, all in one place, fully localised for the GCC.

What started as a way to improve a single benefit has evolved into a platform that helps companies rethink how they operate and scale, while delivering a more seamless and impactful experience for every employee.

How does Bayzat’s leadership approach contribute to building trust and long-term relationships with clients?

Trust is built through consistency, transparency, and real, day-to-day impact. Our leadership approach is grounded in what we call “radical empathy”, putting the customer and employee experience at the centre of every decision we make.

We operate in a region where local nuance matters. From compliance and payroll regulations to benefits and support, we’ve built the platform to be deeply localised, ensuring companies can operate with confidence while meeting the specific requirements of each market.

Ultimately, trust is earned when things simply work, consistently, transparently, and at scale. When companies see smoother operations and employees experience simpler, more intuitive interactions with their HR, payroll, and benefits, the relationship naturally evolves from a vendor into a long-term partner.

What major challenges has Bayzat encountered in the healthcare insurance space, and how did you navigate them?

The biggest challenge was the entrenched legacy mindset. For decades, insurance was handled via paper forms and spreadsheets. Navigating a highly regulated environment while trying to disrupt it required a “compliance-first” innovation strategy. We spent a significant amount of time working with regulators and insurers to ensure our digital-first approach met every legal standard while still pushing the boundaries of what a digital user interface could achieve.

How does Bayzat stay ahead in a competitive and ever-changing insurance landscape?

We stay ahead by being a technology company at our core, with a relentless focus on user experience, localisation, and continuous innovation, while deeply caring about our customers and the problems they face every day.

Insurance is often the starting point for many of our clients, and even on its own, our insurtech offering delivers a more transparent and seamless experience, from real-time visibility into coverage and claims to a more intuitive, mobile-first experience for employees and simplified administration for employers. But our approach is driven by a broader mission: to empower companies by supercharging their people, processes, and payments. That’s why insurance sits within a wider platform that also brings together HR, payroll, and finance, giving companies a more connected, effective, and consolidated way to operate.

In what ways does Bayzat ensure a seamless and customer-centric experience in its healthcare insurance offerings?

Our mobile app is the centrepiece. Through the app, employees can:

  • Search for hospitals and clinics within their specific network.
  • Access a digital insurance card (no more lost plastic cards).
  • Book teleconsultations and mental health support.
  • Submit and track claims in seconds.

By putting the power in the employee’s hands, we reduce the administrative burden on HR departments and ensure the user feels cared for the moment they feel unwell.

What recognitions or achievements best reflect Bayzat’s credibility and impact in the Arab world?

Being recognised as one of the “Top 50 Most Funded Startups in the Middle East” by Forbes, along with receiving multiple InsurTech awards, are proud milestones for us.

However, what matters most is the real impact we’ve had on businesses across the region. Today, Bayzat supports thousands of companies in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, helping them modernise how they manage their people, processes, and payments, and in doing so, helping companies create more remarkable workplaces for over 300,000 employees.

What are Bayzat’s future goals and strategic vision for advancing healthcare insurance in the region?

Our vision is to move from reactive insurance to a more proactive and holistic approach to employee wellbeing.

We’re using AI-driven insights and automation to help companies better understand and support their workforce, from identifying early signs of burnout to improving how benefits, payroll, and day-to-day processes come together to shape the employee experience.

Ultimately, our ambition goes beyond insurance. We want Bayzat to set the standard for how companies run their people, processes, and payments, creating more seamless and impactful work experiences for every employee.
